ABOUT LAST SUNDAY.
update: Father Roman has cleared the infection, feels fine and finished his isolation period.

Dear Parish Family! C.I.X.!
If the measure of a good teacher is how the students manage when the teacher has to leave the room, then I must say you have had good teachers - and this morning, here at St. Elias, I am proud to be one of them! By now most of you know that due to a positive self-test result I was not able to be at today’s (last week) Sunday Services. I had to do what so many of you have... continued below.
been doing these past two years, joining in the Services by means of live-stream transmission. (see above!) A strange experience, and in this case, an edifying one.

I was not able to be "in class”, and yet, class/church, proceeded as if I were there.
True, the structure of the Divine Liturgy was affected by the absence of myself as priest,
but the worship -orderly and prayerful - undiminished. My thanks to the clergy - Cantor Ilya, Protodeacon David, and to the singers who assisted them in leading the “Typica” Service which is taken when a priest is unavailable. In the history of our Church,  such services used to be much more common, be it in remote villages  and monasteries, in catacombs or forests
or even prairies or mining towns of our continent,  When a priest was unavailable, the parish cantor would lead the congregation in singing the main selections of the Divine Liturgy, albeit without the Anaphora and Holy Communion. Such was what we did this morning -
and I am pleased to say, it was done well. So well, in fact, that it might serve as a model for other parishes when such circumstances arise.

In conclusion, once again, my thanks and expression of justifiable pride that you obviously have had good teachers here at St. Elias, among them,  myself….

God continue to bless us on the Way….
